Village Grant Opportunities
The village is researching several grant opportunities. We currently have grant applications outstanding in the amount of $1,500,000. $550,000 is for the funding of Spotsylvania resurfacing. The Van Buren resurfacing project was funded partially by grants. The Spotsylvania grant is pending with three agencies and have been approved for finding by IDOT in the 2022-2025 funding cycle. The Federal Infrastructure grant may provide funding before that. Other funded grants include Okaw Valley Park Improvement and sewer line cured in place lining with the Community Development Block Grant program administered by St. Clair County.
We have a 950,000 Rebuild Downtown & Main Street Capital Grant application with the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO). The purpose of the grant is to provide street scape lighting with high efficiency LED lights along Van Buren and Spotsylvania and extending to New Baldwin Road Businesses. Also, the provide funding for improvements to the Okaw Valley Park to include street scape lighting for the parking lot and improvements to the walking trail, We received letters of support from fourteen businesses, churches, state and federal elected officials, school districts and local businesses. Senator Bryant is a big supporter of our application and has discussed it with the grant agency (DECO).
Other grant opportunities being pursued is with the USEPA and other federal agencies for water infrastructure improvements and ambulance service subsidies.
Thanks to Debbie Politsch, chairman of the Grants and Improvements committee, Laura Wildermuth, volunteer, and Steve Newbold, Vice President of the village board of trustees for all their hard work on the various grants.
You will miss every goal shot you do not take, and you will not get funded on every grant you do not make an application.
