OFFICER CODY POWELL IS A "LIFE SAVER"
Officer Cody Powell on November 15, 2024, was dispatched to a residence for an individual having a cardiac arrest and arrived on the scene and observed a female victim overdosing and not responsive. Powell administered one dose of Naloxone, a medication used to reverse opioid overdoses, performed a sternum rub, rubbing the knuckles of a closed fist into the center of the victim’s chest, and checked for a pulse with negative results. Powell began life saving measures with CPR, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, administered another Naloxone does and resumed CPR. Shortly thereafter, the victim regained consciousness and began breathing on her own. Powell held the female in a recovery position for her breathing.
Officer Powell’s quick response time and Med-Star staff providing medical care to the victim saved this person’s life. I am proud and grateful to Officer Powell and our great ambulance service, Med-Star. Chief Tim Buehler presented Officer Powell the coveted Live Saving Award for his performance.
