Village Praises New Athens CUSD 60 for Receiving Conveted Designations

New Athens Community Unit School District 60 has received exemplary and commendable summative designations from the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) for the 2023-2024 school year.  Schools are evaluated based upon academic achievement, growth, attendance rates and readiness for post-secondary success.  New Athens Junior High School earned exemplary honors, while New Athens Elementary and High School each garnered commendable status. 

The village government, employees, village board members and mayor, is very proud of and congratulates the New Athens Community School District for receiving the coveted designations.  The student’s and parent’s hard work along with the guidance from Superintendent Brain Karraker, school staff and teachers are what made this designation possible.   The reputation of the school is important to those who want to live in the community.  Good quality schools are important for economic and residential growth.
